Specialists at DNEPROSPETSSTAL were first in the world to master the Electro Slag Remelting process.

This method was developed by the E.O.Paton Electrical Welding Institute in Kiev but the pioneers in its practical application were DNEPROSPETSSTAL people.

The first ingot produced using the ESR method in a semi-industrial setting was melted in 1958 in a laboratory furnace installed in steel melting shop number one. During the next three years our company not only designed the first ESR furnace but also started construction of an ESR and vacuum arc remelting workshop, the largest in Europe at that time. And as early as in 1966, Steel Melting Shop Number Five began operations.

Later, based upon DNEPROSPETSSTAL's know-how and experience, the ESR method was mastered by metallurgical companies in the USSR, Europe, America, India and Japan.

Even 50 later ESR technology remains cutting-edge and continues to be used by steel makers in developed countries.
